Edwin Thomas, 31, first appeared on screen in BBC’s Restless and ITV’s Inspector Lewis, and on stage in The Crucible Theatre’s 2013 production of The History Boys.

When ill health forced him to put his burgeoning acting career to one side, Thomas moved into education, teaching French and English in secondary schools in north London, and is now returning to screens in his feature film debut, and biggest role to date, in the Oscar Wilde biopic The Happy Prince, which opened in UK cinemas earlier this month. Thomas plays Wilde’s friend and lover Robbie Ross, starring opposite Rupert Everett and Colin Firth in the new film, which has already garnered praise as a 'poignant' and 'ravishingly sad' feature about the literary legend’s final days.
